First time Grove? What to expect?
King Lear is performed in a lovely Cedar Grove overlooking the Connecticut River Valley. There is ample free parking on campus, and it is easy to walk or wheelchair to the Grove from either parking lot. Seating is on a grassy hillside, so audience members usually bring blankets or lawn chairs. Arrive around 6 pm and enjoy beautiful live music before the play begins at 7 pm. Bring a picnic and beverages of your choice -- we will be selling Organic Frozen Yogurt from Oryo, but no other food will be available on site. The area closest to the stage is reserved for Groundlings (i.e. Blankets Only), so that folks on blankets don't have their view blocked by people in chairs.
It can breezy and cool up on the hill, so you may want to bring a sweater.
King Lear runs 2 hours, 45 minutes and there will be one 10 minute intermission. Children are welcome, although there is some gore and partial nudity (and plenty of awesome sword fighting!)
Tickets can be purchased in advance through the website, or at the door -- cash, check or credit cards are all ok.
See you in the Grove. It's going to be fantastic!
